ODTÜ’nün bilimsel üretkenliginin yaninda sosyal ve kültürel
yasamindaki hareketliligi arttiran ayni zamanda Ankara’nin bilim, kültür
ve sanat yasamina büyük katkida bulunan ODTÜ Kültür
ve Kongre Merkezi’nin 850 kisilik Büyük Konser Salonu sahne
olanaklari yönünden senfonik konser, tiyatro, opera ve bale gösterilerine
uygun olarak tasarlandi ve insa edildi. Sahne alani 180 m2, sahne arkasi ise
400 m2 olup sahne çukuru açilir kapanir mekanik bir sisteme
sahiptir. Sahne arkasinda sanatçilar için dus, soyunma ve dinlenme
odalari ile ofisler bulunmaktadir. Salon çok amaçli olmakla
beraber, akustik hesaplari ve tasarimi öncelikle senfonik konserler ve
oda müzigine uygun olarak yapilmistir. Sahne içerisindeki isik
kuleleri, sofit borulari ve sahne dekorlari sinemaskop gösterime uygun
perde ve data projektör perdeleri için servo motorlu mobil sistemler
bir merkezden kontrol edilebilmektedir. Sahne isiklari ve diger aydinlatmalar
ve ses sistemleri bir kumanda merkezine bagli olup bilgisayar kontrollü
olarak çalistirilabilmektedir. Iki adet es zamanli çeviri odasinin
yer aldigi salondan, diger salonlara video kameralarla canli yayin yapilabilmektedir.

GRAND CONCERT HALL
The Grand Hall of METU Cultural and Convention Center, with a seating capacity
of 850 persons, is designed to accommodate philharmonic orchestra concerts,
theatres, ballets and operas. The stage has a surface area of 180 m2 and a
back stage of 400 m2. A mechanical system exists to lower the stage floor
to provide space for the orchestras of operas and ballets. The back stage
houses dressing rooms for performers, several administrative offices, a number
of small meeting rooms, restrooms and showers. The hall also accommodates
three rooms for simultaneous translation.Conceived to serve a multitude of
purposes, the acoustic calculations of the Grand Hall are primarily designed
for philharmonic orchestra concerts and chamber music performances. The light
towers, sophito tubes, stunts, the main cinemascope screen and data projector
screens are centrally commanded through servemotor controlled mobile systems.
Live video transmission is also possible to other halls of the center.The
center houses an exhibition hall for fairs and exhibition stands during congresses
and conferences. A restaurant adjacent to the building is also built to provide
lunch service to participants. With the opening of the Grand Hall, METU Cultural
and Convention Center not only augment the scientific activity of METU, but
also contributes to the social and cultural life of both METU and city of
Ankara
